Perspectives on Diversity and culture

First I ask one of my friends what do she think about culture and define diversity. She explained that she belief culture is a set of belief and ideal that family has passed down for generation to generation   how she would define culture.   She gave me an example of culture that every difference race has their own ideal of culture. Every year a group of cowboys come to the city for the Black Rodeo. The culture of the black rodeo is all the member a dress in cowboys dress, boots and ride horse. This diversity of this group is that it is a culture of men and women that rides horses travel around the world to entertain with calf roping, bully roping, and riding.  But we all think about this group as cowboys. This is a good example for another type of culture and diversity that I did not think off. But this is an example for one type of diversity and culture, but we have learned that culture and diversity in learning is many difference think, it can be ideal, group of people, race, religion, language, a way people do difference things all can be culture.  Many of the people that I talk to express that term of culture as tradition, college student are in a culture; African American, Asian, Mexican student are in culture.
We are in a culture of online student; studying early education, as well as student from difference country is from difference culture.
School culture is not a mean to an end but an end in itself. Big Picture Learning schools are small, personalized communities of learning, where students are encouraged to be leaders and where school leaders are encouraged to be visionaries. Our schools strive to create a respectful, diverse, creative, exciting, and reflective culture.
As I think about the many ideals and tradition of culture and diversity it contain many belief and value that are important in my life and the lives of family member  as well as the people that I am around in my day to day life.  It is hard to think of the thing that make you Who I am but thinking about what can be omitted I think about the old time when my family had to pick cotton, work as slave and share crop to make a living. I know this is a part of who I am but is do not make me or define who I am. It is part of my history but as we look at this hard time in our live this is what make us individual and unique.
As I have looked at other people definition of culture and diversity is help me to understand what it mean not only to me be to other people. Although this subject is something that it not what everyone thing about it is a part of Who You Are and What Make You What You Value. I think culture and diversity is a part of Value just as much as tradition, race, belief, religion, language and all the other this that make up Who I Am!
