Assignment: What I have learned
As I think about the course of the classroom,
it has taught me that learning and teaching in a diversity learning environment,
means teaching children respect for all students. It has encouraged everyone to discussion and is open by presenting a dialogue
that student and teacher can engage in as they encourage learning. This class has been and eye opening to me because
it makes diverse learning equal and fair to all student. It is also best to think of diversity and
equity using a global perspective. Teacher and student interaction and
instruction play as a powerful role in embracing diversity background as it is reflected
in the classroom.
As a teacher, I ask are you interacting in a
diversity environment. Whom do you call upon in your class? Do you call on a
student that are English speaking in a mix language classroom? Do you call on
white student more than black student or other minority student? Do you have
more expectation for one student over another? Do you tolerate stereotyping by
anyone in your classroom? Do you provide equal learning opportunities for all students
in your classroom? This is what I hope in working in a diversity classroom mean
becoming increasingly aware of our own identities, fears, and biases as we
teach about diversity issues. It is my hope to work on developing each student’s
ability to reflect on higher learning and the skills of each student. I would like each student to reach their
highest goals by creating their higher order thinking skills as much as
possible. It is my hope to create a safe and engaging classroom
climate that is the focus on learning and the interest of all children.
I would like to thank each of my classmates
and instructor for helping me creation a learning environment that has been
respectful. The diversity learning in
this class has been something that will be a part of our lives in each day. This
has been a journey that I will remember as I work to encourage learning for all
children. I have enjoyed working with
each of you and wish everyone the best of luck in the future as we work with
children.
